Know these cold
- SNMP: agent on device collects OID metrics, MIB defines the OID tree, manager polls agents. Traps: device sends unsolicited alerts to manager.
- Syslog: centralized logging for network devices. Severity levels 0–7 (0=Emergency, 3=Error, 6=Informational, 7=Debug).
- NetFlow/sFlow: traffic analysis by collecting flow records (src IP, dst IP, protocol, bytes). Used for capacity planning and anomaly detection.
